What is the difference between a dot matrix printer and a thermal printer?

In the POS hardware industry, there are two types of POS receipt printers, POS thermal printers and dot matrix printers. They have different characteristics and are used in different fields, as follows:

1. Compared with the dot matrix printer, the thermal printing speed is very fast, the printing noise is very low, and the thermal printer prints clearly and is easy to use.
2. Thermal printers cannot print duplexes, and printed documents cannot be permanently stored, even if the printer uses the best thermal paper for only 10 years. Usually it is about 3-6 months.
3. The dot matrix printer can print multiple pairs of goods. If the printer uses a good ribbon, the printed ticket can be saved for a long time.
4. The dot matrix printer has a low printing speed and a very large printing noise. The print is very rough and requires frequent ribbon changes.

So if you need to print an invoice, we recommend using a dot matrix printer. If you only need to print other normal files, a thermal printer is suitable.
