Unique fragmented façade open-air coffee bar design

This is a coffee bar designed by Dutch architects for residents of North Amsterdam. It is also a local meeting place.

The whole building consists of three parts. The architect arranges the top wood chips at random angles. There is a small gap between the wood chips and the wood chips to facilitate lighting and ventilation, forming a unique fragmented exterior wall. style.

Architects also used an ancient Japanese architectural technique called “Shou Sugi Ban” to burn the surface of the building with flames to protect the materials of the exterior wall.
