New Trends in Packaging Paper Development

With the increase in the packaging requirements of goods, it has now generally been extended to the application of advanced paper, coated paper and composite paper, because they can meet the needs of beautiful printing and appearance. The result is that these papers have higher requirements for the base paper. The same is true for paper bags. It is not only the use of natural kraft paper for paper bags, but also white cardboard or other strong white paper bags. Food packaging paper is more demanding, in addition to meeting the packaging requirements, it must also ensure that the package does not contain trace amounts of toxic substances.
As people's awareness of environmental protection has increased and their attention has been focused, functional properties of packaging paper have been developed.
Antiseptic: Paper made of cristobalite and activated carbon can be used to make corrugated cartons for the transportation of flowers, which absorb hydrogen sulfide that causes spoilage of flowers.
Antimicrobial: Injecting sterile gas when manufacturing natural pulp. This kind of paper has the function of preventing bacteria from invading. It can be used for the packaging of medical devices.
Anti-oxidation: Paper made by pulping under weak alkaline conditions can protect the calligraphy and books from being eroded in the acidic environment.
Moisture proof: Dip-coated paper can improve moisture resistance. Can be used to make rainproof bags for fruit tree nursery and prevent bagging.
Deodorization: Paper made of porous inorganic materials and organic flavonols can absorb offensive odors such as ammonia.
Heat-resisting: The board made of specially processed pulp has good heat resistance and steam absorption properties and can be used as microwave food packaging box.
Refractory: Made of aluminum hydroxide mixed with natural pulp; or made of phosphorized pulp and glass fiber, with good flame resistance.
Acid-resistant: Paper made from a mixture of special paper pulp and additives, with excellent light-blocking and acid-resistant properties.
Oil resistance: After the inner layer of the board has been treated with oil-resistance, it can prevent the oil from penetrating. The board surface can be printed with the pattern after the general paint treatment. This kind of paperboard is mainly used for the packaging of oily foods.
Water resistance: Paper made of 100% natural pulp mixed with latex resin has excellent water resistance, folding resistance, and friction resistance.
Sensitive to water: The paper treated with a special coating absorbs moisture and makes the white paper immediately transparent. The contents can be seen through the outer packaging without unpacking.
Preservation: Paper made of natural pulp that has been chemically treated and made with absorbent resin, suitable for fresh-keeping packaging.
Silence: Low-density paper made with non-carcinogenic asbestos fibers, waste paper, rags, etc., has superior sound absorption, water absorption, heat insulation, and cushioning effects.
