High-grade tobacco packaging trends stimulate gravure printing ink to accelerate development

Gravure ink is mainly based on solvent-based inks, and its manufacturing process is relatively simple compared to offset inks. In the past few years, due to the rapid growth of plastic packaging, gravure printing inks have also risen dramatically. The gentrification of tobacco packaging further stimulated the gravure ink market. However, there are more small and medium-sized ink companies in the past two years. In addition, other types of ink manufacturers have also been involved in the solvent ink market. This makes the competition in this area very fierce.

Due to the relevant packaging laws that restrict VOC emissions, the issuance of regulations and policies, traditional gravure inks containing harmful organic solvents such as toluene and butanone will gradually be replaced by alcohol-soluble inks. However, the ink systems based on polyamide, nitrocellulose, and chlorinated polypropylene three resin systems will not be easily changed, and the tobacco industry, which holds an important position in the gravure printing industry, is still not strong, and the introduction of laws and regulations. In order to achieve the ink uV, water-based is still a long time. Therefore, in the short term, whether it is the gravure of plastic packaging or the gravure of paper, the use of benzene-free polyurethane resin inks and alcohol-soluble inks as a transition is regarded as a wise move.
