Why do we need this AGL specification? This is a question that many customers will ask us when they create the ODX database. In fact, the answer is also very simple. On the one hand, in order to standardize the naming of the ODX database, on the other hand, it is convenient for future expansion to support new controllers and models.
AGL's full name is Authoring Guidelines, that is, ODX writing guidelines. The ODX standard defines a data model that describes the diagnostic data of the vehicle and ECU (for example: DTC, data parameter data parameters, identification data, input / output parameters, input / output parameters, variable coding data Communication parameters). In addition to the ODX standard for the description of data types, data communication and data exchange also contain corresponding communication protocols (UDSonCAN, DOIP, KWP2000 lines, etc.). Therefore, in order to simplify the process, customers need a complete set of operation guidelines and specification guide , AGL came into being.

Below we briefly explain what the main content will be contained in the AGL rules. First of all, we need to confirm that customers are based on the ODX standard version and currently use more ODX2.0.1 and ODX2.2.0. The protocol specifications of different versions of ODX will be different. ODX2.2.0 is the latest version.
AGL will mainly cover the following parts:
1. It will elaborate and suggest some definitions of the data structure of the entire ODX library and the topology structure of the diagnostic layer;
2. Suggest naming conventions for related parameters and variables. This is to avoid retrieval errors caused by redundant or duplicate naming. This naming convention will include detailed requirements for LongName (long name) and ShortName (short name);
3. References and suggestions will be given for the mathematical methods, data types, data length requirements, corresponding parameter constraints, etc. used for the DOP attributes;
4. I will focus on the DID part and the coding reference in detail;
5. Describe and describe the use of certain services for specific services. As long as it is involved in the agreement, it will be reflected under the rules.
