Several drying methods and technologies for new inks in the future

1. Thermal polymerization drying

This ink needs to be heated after printing to occur polycondensation reaction and curing. Heat-curable ink is a mixture of resin and curing agent. After printing, it is heated to make the resin react to form an ink film. This ink is called heat-polymerizable ink. Its advantages are one-liquid type, no solvent, stable viscosity before heating, good adhesion fastness and resistance of printed products; the disadvantage is large energy consumption. The curing speed of this ink depends on the content of the catalyst and the heating temperature. When no catalyst is added, the ink needs to be cured at a high temperature greater than 150 degrees. After the catalyst is added, it can be cured at medium temperature, but the catalyst content is large, which is not convenient for the preservation of the ink. The physical properties of the hardened ink film of this ink are very good, mainly used for metal and plastic printing.

2. Gelatinization and drying

Glue-sol inks are used for gelatinization and drying. This ink disperses polyvinyl chloride and pigment together in the plasticizer. After printing, the particles of polyvinyl chloride expand under the action of the plasticizer by heating, and gelatinizes to form a plasticized polyvinyl chloride film. dry. Plastic? Glue ink can be used as foaming ink, transcription printing ink and fiber ink.

3. Filter and dry

The method of combining permeation drying and gel drying is called filtration drying. When printing the coating with quick-drying ink, the low-viscosity petroleum solvent in the connecting material is quickly absorbed into the coating through the capillary action of the coating. After expansion, the resin component that becomes gelatinous contains the pigment particles and remains on the paper surface, and the ink is cured.

4. Wet solid dry

Print on paper with wet solid ink and blow in water vapor. The moisture in the air or the moisture in the paper is absorbed by the ink. At the same time, the resin dissolved in the alcohol precipitates and precipitates. The ink starts to dry, and the water is finally discharged from the paper due to volatilization. When using this ink, pay special attention to select the appropriate ink roller.

5. Precipitation drying

The binder of precipitation-drying ink is made by dissolving high acid value resin in alcohol. The resin used must be compatible with water, but it will precipitate immediately if it exceeds the limit. The representative is rosin modified maleic acid Resin. Common alcohol solvents include ethylene glycol and the like. The drying of the ink is carried out with water as the precipitating agent, so the solvent used in the ink must be mixed with water in any ratio.

6. Condensation and drying

Wax type ink is a very important condensate solid ink. For example, carbon carbon ink is printed by heating, and it is solid at normal temperature. When printing on a voucher printing machine, it is fluidized by heating and melting. It can be printed by letterpress or lithography, and condensed and dried by a cooling roller.

7. Microwave drying

Microwave drying is also a method of heating to dry the ink. Under the action of the microwave electromagnetic field, the heated dielectric molecules become polarized molecules with positive and negative charges. These polarized molecules vibrate with the change of the electromagnetic field, and the temperature also increases.

8. Reaction curing type

This ink is different from the previous two-component reaction-curable ink. When the ink is in contact with the paper, a certain component in the ink reacts with a certain component in the paper to dry and solidify. This reaction exists on the coating layer on the surface of the ink and paper, which makes the ink solidify quickly without the problem of volatile pollution. However, it is necessary to select ink and paper that can react with each other for printing.
