Lexan Film Production Advantage

SABIC Innovative Plastics' new Lexan film solutions for electronic security documents such as driver's licenses, e-passport data pages, transit permits, residence permits, green cards, smart card inlays, speed cards, health cards, vehicle registration labels and government employees, The identity cards of the military, police, and other personnel - exceed traditional materials in different areas. The Lexan film uses heat and pressure to unite all the layers into a non-pullable card, whereas rigid cards require adhesives and are easy to separate. The second advantage is that SABIC's innovative plastic film has a very narrow thickness tolerance of +/- 2.5%. Compared to the existing wide thickness variations, this performance facilitates the converter constantly controlling multilayer cards within a certain thickness range.

Three new films that can be used for various designs

SABIC Innovative Plastics' Lexan SD film solutions for electronic ID cards include the following levels:

Lexan SD8B14 film is used for the transparent outer or middle layer. This material offers high optical quality and ease of processing, including punching, printing, and CLI/MLI lens construction. Thickness from 50μm to 400μm. Lexan SD8B24 film is used for the core layer. This bright white film shows opacity even at very thin thicknesses, which prevents front-end images from being displayed from behind, and vice versa. Thickness from 75μm to 620μm. Lexan SD8B94 film is used for transparent, laser-marked layers. This film can be used on the top or middle layer and appears as a gray image to ensure high security of personal information. When applied to the top layer, it can sense tactile sensation through texture. Its thickness can be 50μm, 100μm and 150μm.
