NBD Nano technologies (located in Boston, Massachusetts, USA) recently introduced an injection-grade additive that makes the plastic surface highly resistant to water, dust, dirt, mud, and ice. The company is about to bring the RepelShell series to the market. This additive is the first product in the series. Initial applications include waterproof and stain-resistant sports shoes, electronic products, self-cleaning non-woven fabric fibers, and stain-resistant textiles. Industrial plastics used in the energy, automotive, construction, manufacturing and technical fields can also benefit from this material.
Its formula is composed of functional molecules, which are mixed into additives during the plastic compounding process and has been patented. The mixed molecules of NBD contain organic and inorganic elements, satisfying the required structure and thermal properties.
