Husky helps develop the world's first biodegradable water bottle

Supply preform design and production equipment for BIOTA's new corn-based polymer water bottle

Bolton, Ontario - Husky is the world's leading provider of preform production equipment and services, and is also presenting the world's first cornine-derived (NatureWorks® PLA) degradable bottle. .

To develop a new fully degradable water bottle suitable for BIOTA's premium Colorado mineral water, Husky worked with BIOTA Brands of America Inc, Cargill Dow LLC, and SIG Corpoplast. Cargill Dow LLC revealed that the newly introduced water bottle is in full compliance with the requirements of local and industry degradation equipment.

In this cooperation, Husky provided BIOTA with preform production equipment: a 24-cavity HyPET 120 system, which is now used to produce 12 oz, 0.5 liter and 1 liter mineral water bottles. The most important feature of the HyPET system is its fast running speed, high mold wear resistance, high repeatability, low acetaldehyde emissions, energy saving, high input-to-output ratio, and good performance.

The Husky Preform Development Center cooperated with blow molder supplier SIG Corpoplast to participate in the entire design process of preforms and bottles. SIG Corpoplast offers a BLOMAX-10, 10-cavity stretch blow molding system for BIOTA.
