Can the printer really achieve network shared printing?

[Office Partner Information Center] Two computers have formed a peer-to-peer network. One of them is equipped with a CanonBJC-1000SP printer. Can two computers share a single printer?

of course can. Nowadays printers can support network sharing, and the setting method is relatively simple. For the convenience of the answer, the following will be equipped with a printer computer (set to the host, hereinafter referred to as "A machine"), another computer (set to the client, hereinafter referred to as "B machine").

First we need to confirm if two computers have appeared in the network neighbors of the two computers. Then install the sharing protocol for files and printers on the A and B machines respectively. Right click on the "My Network Places" icon on the desktop and select the "Properties" menu item to open the "Network" dialog. Then click the "File and Printer Sharing" button, in the pop-up dialog box, select the "Allow other users to access my files" and "Allow other computers to use my printer" check box, and then click "OK" " button.

Next we will install the printer driver and set up the shared printer on the A and B machines respectively. This function is to share the printer on the A machine with the B machine. The installation of the A and B machines is different from the method of setting up the shared printer, which will be explained separately here. First install the print driver in the A machine, click "Start → Settings → Printer", then right click on "XXXPrinter", select the "Share" menu item in the pop-up context menu. At this time, a dialog box of “XXXPrinter Properties” will pop up. In the “Share” tab, click “Share as”, fill in the “Share Name” with the name you want to share, generally press the system default name, and then press “ Confirm button. Now we can see that the "XXXPrinter" printer icon is added to the printer in the printer, which means the printer has been successfully shared. Then we set the relevant settings of the B machine. In the B machine, click "Start → Settings → Printer", then double-click the "Add Printer" icon to start the "Add Printer Wizard", click the "Next" button. When the wizard asks how your computer is connected to the printer, select the "Network Printer" option and click the "Next" button. Click the "Browse" button, find the shared printer in the workgroup, select the host, then select the printer (eg Canon) and press the "OK" button. Or enter the network path of the shared printer using the "Universal Naming Specification" format for accessing network resources, such as "//01/canon", and then click the "Next" button. Enter the printer name again, generally with the default printer name, click the "Next" button, and then click the "Finish" button. If a password is set, enter the password. Finally, a printer icon has been added to the printer window to indicate that it has been installed. To print a file, simply select the shared printer in the Printer Name field and make the appropriate printer settings, then press the "OK" button to print.

It is important to note that the shared printer's computer and printer should be turned on at the same time, and the shared printer will not work properly when there are no print jobs.
