Schiavi introduced the ten-colour EF 5040 CI-flexo flexographic press, which is built around Schiavi's innovative Universal Deck concept, a feature of the EF 40 press series. According to the company, the EF 5040 features a sturdy, non-jumping frame structure that is 7 inches thick and has a full-length base structure that improves stability during printing and prevents shock even under critical stress.

This press is equipped with the Universal Deck, which embodies many vibration-free innovations such as innovative crossed-sliding support, extra-large linear guides to increase the stability of the spindle support, and a new one. Pneumatic locking system that allows operators to insert a powerful rail clamp during critical printing and a dual rail system on the side of the engine to better control the cantilever spindle when changing sleeves.

The roll width of the EF 5040 is 52 inches to 65 inches. The drying system features a 16-foot-long channel. The air nozzles are placed at the optimum distance from the web to achieve maximum solvent evaporation and minimal air circulation without affecting the paper tension. Two separate fans control the channel and internal color dryer. According to Schiavi, the entire system uses solvent-based and water-based inks to achieve maximum drying efficiency. The EF 5040 demonstrated a production speed of 1150 fpm to the audience.
