U.S. plans to issue new regulations for cribs

Recently, the United States issued a notification to the WTO Secretariat, entitled "Safety Standards for Bedside Cribs" (G/TBT/N/USA/770).

The Danny Kaiser Child Product Safety Notification Act, Item 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (2008) (CPSIA), requires the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to issue consumer product safety standards for durable baby products. Responding to the directive under 104 (b) of the CPSIA, the committee proposed a safety standard for bedside cribs.

The date on which the regulations are to be approved and proposed to take effect is to be determined.
