With the rapid development of the packaging industry in China, a huge amount of packaging waste has been generated, causing serious pollution to the environment. At the same time, due to the low recycling rate of a large number of packaging materials and the low recycling rate of waste, the situation of resource shortage in our country becomes increasingly severe.
The serious pollution caused by packaging waste to the environment has aroused the attention of the whole society. It has set off a green wave centered on the protection of the environment and resource conservation in the world, and declared war on environmental pollution and resource destruction. In 1993, under the guidance of the competent government department, China's packaging industry carried out the treatment of pollution caused by packaging waste.
To protect the ecological environment and make full use of resources, all countries in the world have made progress in the research and application of packaging waste disposal and comprehensive utilization technologies and equipment. Some developed countries have higher recycling rates for packaging waste. In recent years, under the guidance of the relevant policies and regulations of the competent authorities of the state and local governments, the recovery of packaging waste in China has made great progress, but the overall situation is still not optimistic. The national competent authorities put forward some specific goals for the development of green packaging during the “10th Five-Year Plan” period: the total recycling rate of packaging products waste should reach 43%, of which the paper packaging recycling rate should reach 40%, plastic packaging should reach 20%, and glass packaging should be Up to 50%, metal packaging reaches 60%.
Our country's task in the processing and comprehensive utilization of packaging wastes and the development of equipment is quite arduous. The revolution of green packaging will not only have new reforms in the treatment of packaging waste, but also involve the recycling of packaging materials, safety, health care, and the standards of materials, packaging conversion, and remanufacturing.
