In recent years, the traditional paper industry has renewed its vitality in Finland, and strong demand from China is one of the important driving forces. As we all know, Finland is a traditional paper-making country and a country of innovation in papermaking. It has abundant forest resources, internationally leading technology and a long history of papermaking enterprises. At the launching ceremony of the China Paper Sustainable Development Forum and the White Paper on Sustainable Development of China's Paper Industry, the Finnish Ambassador to China, Su Haiyan, elaborated on the relationship between China and Finland in the paper industry in the new era. Su Haiyan said that Finland will conduct high-level cooperation with China to further support the development of China's paper industry in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable direction!

Ladies and gentlemen, Hello everyone! Thanks to the organizers for inviting me to participate in the launching ceremony of the China Paper Sustainable Development Forum and the White Paper on Sustainable Development of China Paper Industry. I am very honored to express my sincere greetings to all those who participated in this important meeting. .

China's papermaking technology has become a strong link between China and Finland. As one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, Finland has been trading paper with China for a long time. For decades, Finland has supported the development of the Chinese paper industry in various ways.

After China began to open its economy, many Finnish paper companies such as UPM, Valmet and Stora Enso came to China to invest, introducing state-of-the-art technology and advanced management and environmental practices. At the same time, these Finnish companies also shared the dividends in the Chinese market. Thanks to the sustainable management of the northern forest, Finland also provides high-quality virgin fiber pulp, Finnish pulp producers have established long-term cooperation with Chinese paper companies, and the domestic pulp production capacity is expanding further.

In terms of scientific research cooperation, Finland and China's different associations and enterprises exchanges each year. The Chinese version of the "Paper and Equipment Science and Technology Series" co-authored by China and Finland is also an excellent example of cooperation that contributes to the development of science and talent in China's paper industry.

China's paper industry ranks first in the world in terms of production and consumption. The launch of the White Paper on Sustainable Development of China's Paper Industry will give people a better understanding of the Chinese paper industry.

Finland is a country known for its strong modern paper industry. Innovative technology offers many sustainable solutions that are not limited to paper but also show more opportunities. Finnish companies such as UPM and Stora Enso A good example of how paper companies contribute to biomaterials and the bioeconomy has been established. Sino-Finnish is moving in the right direction, producing more eco-sustainable products in Finland, made from renewable and recyclable raw materials, reducing society's dependence on naturally depleted resources.

Su Haiying stressed that there are many opportunities for paper cooperation between Finland and China.
