Japan Implements Packaging Container Recycling Act

In recent years, increasing packaging waste has brought tremendous pressure on environmental protection. All countries in the world, especially developed countries, encourage the development and use of "green packaging" that can be "digested", and pass laws to reduce the amount of packaging waste, and vigorously develop the technology for recycling and reuse of packaging waste.

In recent years, the recycling rate of packaging waste in Japan has been increasing year by year, and it has now reached more than 50%, which is nearly 10 percentage points higher than it was five years ago. In order to consolidate the achievements made in the recycling and recycling of packaging, the Japanese government officially implemented the Packaging Container Recycling Act in April this year.

According to the requirements of this Act, as of April 1, this year, all goods on the Japanese market (including goods imported from abroad) must clearly indicate on the packaging container whether the packaging container can be recycled. The identification marks on the packaging containers must be clear at a glance, so that consumers can easily separate and collect them according to type, so as to facilitate recycling. According to this safety and security requirement, packaging cartons, plastic glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans are all objects that should be marked as recyclable, that is, on these packaging containers, Add recyclable markers. Recyclable marks must be printed or stamped. Therefore, the paper packaging equipment used for department stores or supermarkets to sell merchandise, the packaging cartons for food products such as aquatic products, and plastic appliances need to be clearly marked with recycling marks.

For this reason, the entry-exit inspection and quarantine department specifically reminds the exporting companies that when exporting products to Japan, do not forget to print recyclable marks on packaging containers.
