According to relevant experts, the price of newsprint in the international market may have risen significantly since 2001. Do not rule out the possibility of an increase of 15% to 20%.

The reason for this is above all that the global demand for newsprint has grown year after year. For example, demand in Europe and North America has been growing for the fourth consecutive year since 1997. This has led to an imbalance in the production and consumption of newsprint.

In 1999, the consumption of global newsprint increased by 3% compared with 1998. In 2000, the consumption of European newsprint increased by 4%, while that of the United States increased by 3.5%. As the supply of newsprint cannot keep up with the increase in consumption, the price increase of newsprint is inevitable. In addition, the reduction of papermaking costs has prompted the paper industry to concentrate too much. The world's top five paper product manufacturers control 57% of the newspapers in the international market and 69% of magazine paper. The French newsprint professional company believes that Europe needs at least two modern joint ventures to ease the supply of the tight paper market.
