The computer room of Central South University was built in the early 20th century. Gray, internal equipment is more serious, the computer room monitoring system is imperfect, basically requires human inspection, using traditional room-level air conditioning under the air supply mode for cooling, cooling effect is not ideal, especially the remote frame and upper equipment is extremely easy Local hotspots are generated, which is not conducive to the normal operation of the equipment; the overall computer room adopts an open cooling mode, the utilization rate of precision air conditioning refrigeration is not high, and the hot and cold airflow in the equipment room is mixed; the machine room adopts the traditional power frequency tower UPS, which covers a large area and runs the equipment. Low efficiency and low reliability do not meet the requirements of green energy saving in the new generation of computer rooms. Today, with the rapid development of information technology, the school actively promotes the construction of educational information, pays close attention to the latest ideas and innovative ideas of the data room, and seeks a new generation of data center solutions.
Based on the application environment and actual needs of the existing data center of Central South University, Huawei has designed a professional architecture for Central South University, providing IDS2000 intelligent micro-module data center solution, which integrates a variety of advanced technologies: high-efficiency and energy-saving modular UPS. 1. Adopt modular construction concept
In the face of difficulties in expanding the old equipment room, poor overall coordination, and mixing of hot and cold airflow, the project adopts a modular data center solution, which is not only reflected in the modularization of the overall solution, but also in the key components and modularization of key equipment. In this solution, the Huawei IDS2000 integrated module solution is adopted. The systems for power distribution, refrigeration, cabinets, etc. are integrated into the module; the components and monitoring cables are prefabricated at the factory, and the on-site installation is simple, which greatly reduces the online time of the service. In the later period of business growth, you can simply copy, deploy in phases, expand capacity on demand, invest in phases, and improve the utilization of funds.
2. Adopt advanced cooling mode of inter-line air conditioning.
In the face of the long air supply distance of the air supply and air conditioning under the old machine room, the low air supply utilization rate caused by the lower air supply causes the running electricity cost to remain high. This project adopts inter-line air conditioning and closed channel to make the cooling capacity of the precision air conditioner The rate has been greatly improved, reducing the energy consumption of the computer room and creating a new generation of green energy-saving modular data center. The inter-line air-conditioning arrangement and the rack arrangement are installed side by side with the server cabinet, the cold air supply and the horizontal air supply mode by the hot air return, avoiding the problem of mixing the cold and hot air flow of the traditional open cooling mode, the cold passage The internal cooling capacity is evenly distributed. The lower end of the cabinet is consistent with the cooling capacity at the upper end of the cabinet. This ensures uniform temperature of the server cabinet, solves the problem of local hotspots to the greatest extent, and improves the operational reliability of the core equipment in the equipment room.
3, using green energy-saving modular UPS
The old computer room adopts the power frequency UPS. The UPS equipment is bulky and takes up a lot of space in the equipment room. Under the ground load rate, the UPS has low efficiency and consumes a large amount of electric energy, which does not meet the requirements of energy saving and emission reduction of the new generation data center. Therefore, the modular UPS high-reliability power supply solution is adopted in this project; the high-efficiency UPS achieves the highest efficiency (95%-96%) at the most common load rate (20%-40%), which is more than 10% energy saving compared with the traditional UPS. The low footprint of the modular UPS saves valuable space in the machine room. Compared to traditional tower UPS, modular UPS brings more possibilities for flexible expansion of the data center.
4, the use of intelligent centralized monitoring system
The old computer room has a low degree of intelligence in operation and maintenance. The equipment in the equipment room relies heavily on artificial inspections. The accuracy is not high and requires a lot of labor costs. Therefore, the intelligent centralized monitoring system in this project realizes the complete control of equipment information and escorts the stable operation of the equipment room. Through the intelligent centralized monitoring system, the cost of human inspection is greatly reduced, and the operation and maintenance efficiency and accuracy are improved, and the failure is effectively prevented.
Central South University's overall program design integrates high-efficiency modular UPS, first inter-air conditioning refrigeration, closed cold-channel cold and hot air isolation, intelligent management technology, to create a safe and reliable, green energy-saving, advanced intelligent modular data center.
The successful delivery of the modular data center has provided a solid foundation for the construction of education informationization in Central South University, and further improved the educational informationization level of the school. Central South University has given a high evaluation of this high-quality project. The original PUE value is as high as 2.0~2.2. A large amount of running electricity bills every year has always been a headache. Huawei's intelligent micro-module system will reduce the PUE value to about 1.6.
