11 tips for water-based paint construction
In view of the problems that are more likely to occur in the construction of water-based paints, some solutions have been proposed to make you more comfortable in the decoration and processing of wood products.
1. Waterborne paint peeling and delamination
Cause: The surface is too smooth, the object to be coated is not clean, the wood is decayed, the metal rust spots, the water-based paint is of poor quality.
There is a small area of paint film peeling off on the wood or metal surface. The varnish can be sanded with fine sandpaper and then brushed. The paint can be partially polished or replenished with putty and repainted. Large areas of flaking must be washed (scraped) and repainted.
2. Water-based paint foaming
Cause 1: The moisture under the paint layer or behind it is too heavy. During the drying process (or the sun), the water will evaporate outward, and the paint film will rise up to form a bubble. In this case, first remove the foamed paint film with a hot air spray gun, then let the underlying wood dry naturally, then partially apply the primer, and finally repaint the entire surface.
Cause 2: If the wood grain is cracked and there is a small amount of air in the wood, the sun will swell and the air expands, and the patent leather will bubble.
Face this situation, first scrape off the foamed patent leather, then fill the crack with putty and repaint. You can also apply microporous paint directly without using putty and scraping off the patent leather.
3. Cracks appear (paint, mixed color)
In this case, it is mostly necessary to remove the paint with a chemical paint remover or a hot air spray gun before repainting.
If the fracture range is not large, the sanding block or wet and dry sandpaper can be used to wet the water, and the broken water-based paint can be ground. After the surface is smoothed, the putty is applied, the primer is applied, and the paint is repainted.
4. Waterborne paint flow
Water-based paint is too thick at a time, which will cause runny. If the paint is not dry, brush it with a brush. If the paint film is dry, wait until it is dry. Polish the paint surface with fine sandpaper, clean the surface, and then repaint. Be careful not to brush too thick.
5. Stains (for paint)
There are many reasons for the stain on the surface of water-based paints. For example, the water in the latex paint dissolves the material on the wall and oozes out the paint surface. The wall surface rubbed with steel wool will produce rust spots, and the dark pipe in the wall will leak and appear stains. To prevent stains, first apply a layer of anti-rust primer. If stains have appeared, remove the stains (such as latex paint), then apply a layer of anti-rust primer and then repaint.
6. Moldy discoloration
This problem occurs mostly on the surface of wet water-based paints. For example, moisture vapor condenses on the glass or metal surface and combines with the paint film to produce brownish black stains. At this point, the fungicide can be used to treat the moldy parts according to the instructions of the instructions. After the mold is killed, the surface is cleaned and then repainted.
7. Lost gloss
One of the reasons is that the primer may not be applied, or the inner layer of paint may be directly coated with a semi-gloss or two gloss finish, and the finish is absorbed by the wood and loses its luster. It may also be that the quality of the glossy finish is poor.
Treatment method: use old wet and dry sandpaper to rub off the old paint, wipe the surface of the polished dust, and then dry it again, then repaint the paint.
Special note: Painting in a very low temperature environment, after the paint film is dry, may also lose luster, which is the film film formation is bad.
8. Paint film wrinkles
Usually it is caused by the second pass of the first time the paint is not dry - that is, the dry brush is also called wet wet construction. At this time, the upper and lower layers interact and interact to make them wrinkle.
In this case, the creased paint film can be removed by chemical stripper or heat and repainted. Remember: Be sure to wait until the underlying layer of paint is dry before you can brush it for the second time.
9. The paint surface is rough
1. The newly painted surface is rough, usually because the paint brush used is not clean or the construction environment is not clean. It is also possible that the water-based paint is mixed with patent leather or other impurities, which are not precipitated or filtered before use, or it may be that the water-based paint film is dusty when it is not dry.
To prevent this from happening, a clean paint brush and paint bucket must be used. Always filter before using old paint. In addition, the painted surface should be covered with a cover or cardboard when the paint film is not dry to prevent dust.
If the paint surface is rough, after it has dried out, smooth it with a dry and wet sandpaper, wipe it off, and then brush it again. Special Note: Try to use a clean paint brush.
2. Dark spots appear on the surface of the painted wood
It may be that the knot is not sealed before painting, and the sun is exposed to the sun, the knot is heated, and the oil of the wood itself is exuded from the knot. At this point, the water-based paint can be scraped off with a spatula, and then polished with fine sandpaper to expose the knots, and the knots are sealed with a seal paint. After drying, the paint is repainted.
10. Water-based paint does not dry
The indoor ventilation is not good, the temperature is too low, and the indoor humidity is too heavy, resulting in the water-based paint film not drying. Water-based paints have been slow to dry. We can open the doors and windows to ventilate properly, or put a heater inside to increase the room temperature.
11. The paint surface sticks to the bug
Try to drive the bug away when the water-repellent paint is not dry, then gently apply a little paint to the surface.
